As part of our Meet the Team series, we chat with our new VP Engineering Richard Hill and find out more about his role with us - and his love of cycling!
How was life before ThoughtRiver?
Prior to joining ThoughtRiver I was CTO for Celaton, an Intelligent Document Processing SaaS business which extracted detail from electronic documents at scale.
What attracted you to ThoughtRiver?
Tell us about a typical day for you
For me, no day is ever the same! I see my role primarily as empowering my teams and ensuring they have what they need to deliver impactful software to our customers. This involves a lot of slack messages and meetings! I spend time with the rest of the management team, operations, product and commercial as well as my direct reports and individual contributors. I look to unblock issues, coordinate different teams, aid communication, and offer direction where needed whilst promoting autonomy with the teams.
Where do you see Legal Tech heading?
As is the case with many industries now, it is becoming more and more important that people are able to focus on higher value tasks, removing the mundane and repeatable ones to save valuable time. The bar on what is considered mundane will continually be raised as people get used to exactly what AI can bring.
Do you have a mantra you live by?
"Be authentic and true to what you believe" has always resonated with me!
....and when you aren't working?
My best work is often done whilst on my cycle commute! Time to think is so often overlooked, so 17 miles each way gives me time to do just that.
